In the PanAmerican games, Argentina won gold in men's futbol/soccer and in women's speed skating. Peru and Venezuela won for karate, but the spirit of the games is overshadowed by a US team member's use of ephedrine. This is the second instance of drug use, with a Surinamese player the first.
