Update: Additional earthquakes, including a 6.0 quake are continuing off the coast of Ecuador in an area where the South American and Nazca plates converge.
Sources report five earthquakes in a ten hour period off the coast of Ecuador. The quakes, on January 13, caused little or no damage and no injuries. See Cinco sismos consecutivos en costa de Ecuador (Reuters) for details.
Consult South America Region map for current seismic activity.
