(1) Penguinlady says:

I’ve been twice to Ushuaia, both times on my way to Antarctica. And each time, I’ve been advised by Argentines that only “outlanders” pronounce it “oosh-WHY-ah.” True Argentines pronounce it at as though there was no H in it: “oos-WHY-ah.”

When I pronounced it thus as I bopped around town, the shopkeepers all smiled and told me how much they appreciated my correct pronounciation. Even though that was just about the only thing I could pronounce correctly!
