Sunday June 25, 2006
Monument to the Indians of the Sierra Nevada Discovering Colombia's lost city (Miami Herald): Author's account of an adventurous trek "to an ancient village of the Tayrona Indians, an extinct tribe that built the city centuries ago in an vain effort to hide from Spanish invaders. Disease, it appears, caught up to them first."

The trek through Colombia's coastal Santa Marta mountains begins in the port of Santa Marta. The author discusses the dangers and the state of tourism in Colombia.
