Melting Glaciers, Global Warning and El Niņo

Tuesday February 20, 2007
Peru may lose glaciers by 2015 (SciDev.Net): "Peru's glaciers are melting at an increasing rate due to global warming, say scientists, who warn that by 2015 almost all of its glaciers will have disappeared. Peru is home to 70 per cent of the world's glaciers; their disappearance will create problems for local communities, including adapting to changes in water supplies."

Global warning and El Niņo, the "disruption of the ocean-atmosphere system in the Tropical Pacific having important consequences for weather and climate around the globe" contribure to the melting of glaciers around the globe.
