Saturday August 18, 2007
scarlet macaws Exploring the mighty mystic Amazon (news.com.au): "Close encounters with the abundant nature is frequent in the natural paradise of the lush, humid Amazon basin in the remote northeast area of Peru. With about 2000 species of fish, 4000 species of birds, including 120 hummingbirds, numerous native mammals and about 60 reptile species, there's no shortage of wildlife along the world's most-famous river."

The article describes wildlife and staying at the Ceiba Tops jungle lodge, about 40km down river from Iquitos in the Amazon Rainforest Region of Peru. The author suggests things to pack, safety and health tips, getting there and of course, what to do and see in Amazonia.
