Diving in the Galapagos: An Awe-Inspiring Experience

Wednesday September 5, 2007
moray eelGalapagos Archiepelago, one of Ecuador's top destinations, is a favorite with many divers. Here is an account of a week long experience: CV Diver’s Respectful Visit With Creatures of the Deep (San Leandro Times): "The waters in the area are rich with nutrients and food as it is the junction for the Equatorial Counter Current and the colder Humboldt current. Although the Galapagos Islands enjoy a warm climate year round, there are two distinct seasons." Winter is considered better for diving.

Following descriptions of various dives, and the marine life seen, the author concludes: "A trip like this tends to keep our place on this Earth in perspective. We are here as coinhabitants."
