It's the start of a new year and everyone is starting to make their winter holiday plans. There is no shortage of recommendations for where to go in 2013, and it is not surprising that some of the heavy weights like Lonely Planet, CNN and Condé Nast Traveller are looking to South America.
I was a bit surprised to see that Peru wasn't at the top of every list given the popularity of Machu Picchu. However, it is already a popular destination and it is nice to see that journalists are starting to see there are many aspects of South America. Each country is unique with its own distinct culture and offerings and so it is great that Brazil and Ecuador are at the top of the recommendations for holidays this year.
