There are multiple ways to get to and around in South America. Most travelers with limited time opt to fly to a major destination, use that city as a base to explore the surrounding area before traveling farther afield, either independently or with a tour group. Tours can be as many as a custom tour for one, or a pre-arranged tour with any numbler of people

Those with more time to travel might opt for a leisurely cruise, and use the port-of-calls to explore various cities and sights.

Still others, with more time to spend in getting to know the country or countries better, choose to use busses or trains, when available, and travel by land. Many hike and backpack, seeing the sights in a slower, more personal manner.
