Next we see him arriving in New York, flying over the Statue of Liberty on his way to Madison Square Gardens, where a live reading of the votes and a Survivor reunion will take place. He walks down the aisle, past cheering audience, to the Tribal Council set on the stage.

He greets the castaways, and Amber shows off her “I love Rob” T-shirt. When Jeff asks them how they feel about their chances, Amber says she knows it will be a close vote. Jeff tells Rob that it was his season, that he dominated the game physically and strategically. Rob says he feels like he’s already won for he has a special girl. Amber smiles as Rob pulls a box out of his pocket, gets down on one knee and proposes. The audience goes wild as Amber accepts. Hugs and kisses ensue as Jeff tells the audience that this is not the promised Big Twist.

Jeff reads the votes. With seven, it takes four to win. Rob gets the first, then they tie at three each. The fourth vote is for Amber, who is the Sole Survivor. More applause as Amber leaves the stage to embrace her parents, then Rob’s.

Jeff calms things down, and the sixteen castaways observing all this get their chance to talk. Amber admits she didn’t like Rob at all when they first met. He thought she was snobbish. Jeff asks Rupe why no one voted Rob off when they had the chance. Rupe says they talked about it, but no one stepped up to the plate.

Jeff asks several of the castaways for news. Jenna Morasca says her family is doing well after her mother’s death. When asked, she and Ethan Zohn have a more than friendly relationship. Susan Hawk had a makeover, Richard Hatch found love in Argentina, and Jenna got married.

Jeff repeats that Survivor All-Stars has been an emotional, unpredictable event, then the discussion focuses on who did what to whom. Emotions flare, and after protesting that the rancor made her sick, Jerri Manthey left the reunion.

Jeff announced that Chevy, one of the show’s sponsors, wanted Amber, who had already won a car, to give away another to one of the contestants. After a whispered consultation with Rob, she gave the car to Shii-Ann Huang as thanks for keeping her in the game.

Jeff announced that this, too, was not the Big Twist. After watching 129 Tribal Councils without participating, the audience now has the chance to do just that. This is the Big Twist! You, me and the rest of the Survivor fans can now vote to award another million dollars to the castaway or our choice. Vote at Survivor All-Stars or find out how to vote from your wireless phone before midnight, May 12, 2004.

The winner will be announced next Thursday, as will the location of the next Survivor series. Rumor has it that it might be in the Pacific again, at Vanatu, or perhaps even in the Nevada desert.

Who knows?

Be sure to vote for your favorite, and watch to see who wins! In the meantime, vote your opinions in the Episode 16 Poll!
