Parque National Los Glaciares, Argentina
Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, seen in the background, are challenging to the trekker and climber, who must check in with the rangers at the Intendencia, or Ranger Station for Parque National Los Glaciares. With a route, schedule and the trekking/climbing permit in hand,trekkers and climbers are advised to stay on the marked trails.
"Mount Fitz Roy was first climbed on February 2, 1952 by the French team of Lionel Terray and Guido Magnone, while Mt Torre was first climbed in 1959 by Cesare Maestri and Tony Egger. The ideal time to make an climbing attempt is from mid-February to end March. Trekking in El Chaltén.
