Coastal Argentina - Bahia Blanca
STS081-724-068 Blanca Bay, Argentina January 1997
Near the bottom left portion of the image, the port city of Bahia Blanca (Blanca Bay, the light-colored area) can be seen in this west-looking low-oblique view. The city of Blanca Bay is a major naval port and the main shipping outlet for the southern pampas (agricultural region) grain belt. Numerous salt lakes are also visible in the scene. At the center of the image, the Blanca Grande Lagoon can be seen. Just to its right is the Colorada Grande Lagoon. Just to the west of the city of Blanca Bay are Chicas Salt Lake and the Chasico Lagoon. The wide, flat, grassy plains and agricultural patterns of the Pampas are visible throughout the scene.
