Laguna Verde is 5000 m high, and behind the lake is the 5930 m Volcano Licancábur.

Travel in this area of Bolivia is sparse and unsupported. The best time to visit is between April and September, and travelers must provide their own camping gear, food, water, maps, compass and warm clothing. It gets bitterly cold.
