Galapagos Hawk

Galapagos Hawk

The Galapagos hawk is the only one in the archipelago, and lives everywhere in both lowlands and highlands except on Genovesa, San Cristobal and Floreana islands. The hawk feeds on insects, small birds and carrion. Female hawks are polyandrous and mate with up to four males who protect her, the nest and the chicks. The males also help with feeding the young. Hawks are curious and will approach humans or follow them in the air.
