Galápagos Islands
Yellow-crowned Night Heron

Yellow-crowned night heron

When mature, the yellow-crowned night heron will turn a blue gray, with a yellow crown. The night heron in the Galapagos isn't mainly a night feeding bird, as elsewhere, but active both night and day. It feeds on crabs and insects found on the rocky shores and mangroves.
