Mercado de las Brujas, La Paz
Photo of the Week - 04/09/2006
Mercado de las Brujas, also called Mercado de Hechicería, or the Witch's Market in La Paz Bolivia is a must see for the wide variety of herbs, potions, spells and matters of the occult. On sale here are herbs and magic charms for any occasion, as well as those for love, money or health.
Many of the items for sale are used in Aymara traditions and to honor the earth goddess Patchamama. Bargaining with the vendors is an accepted, and expected, practice.
