These twin rock formations are only a sample of the distinctive shapes carved by time, wind and water from the clay, sandstone and volcanic ash covering the valley of the Ischigualasto river in northwestern Argentina. Once, over 180 million years ago, dinosaurs and other evolving life roamed what was then a fertile, tropical plain until rain and mud caught them forever.
