Potosí, Bolivia
Photo of the Week - 12/10/2006
Once the largest and the wealthiest city in South America due to the rich silver mine in Cerro Rico, or Rich Hill, Potosí declined in glory as the ore depleted, but today is beckoning new wealth as an adventure destination in Bolivia
This view of Potosí shows a typical narrow colonial street with Cerro Rico looming over the city.
