Seen over the rooftops of Pucón, Villarica volcano is an ever present threat, but its beauty and the charm of the area attract visitors throughout the year. People come to hike, climb, windsurf, kayak and white-water raft, or ride mountain bikes in the area surrounding Lake Villarica and congregate in Pucón for lodging and entertainment.
A long-time traditional summer resort area, Pucón and the lake district is a favorite with Chileans and international visitors.
