Cattle, Rural Paraguay
Photo of the Week - 06/15/2008
Cattle in the rural areas of Paraguay are a common sight. Paaraguay is divided into regions, the fertile east, where the capital, Asunción is and where most of the population lives; the low Chaco, a forested and marshy area nearest Asunción; the middle Chaco, where the Mennonites have created communal and productive farms; and the high Chaco, desert where thorn forests outnumber the population.
The low Chaco is the region most used for cattle ranching.
