Once a Dutch colony, and called Dutch Guyana, the architecture and culturalk influences of the Netherlands remain in colonial buildings of downtown Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname.
Adding to the Dutch and local influences, elements of French, Spanish and British occupation create a homogeneous and attractive city.
