The news of the terrorist attacks stunned and shocked the world. Outraged leaders of US allies, NATO, and prominent educators and psychologists have spoken out, counseled grieving and angry victims and spectators.

The attack on the USA was appalling, shocking, terrifying, unbelievable to many. The news services have worked around the clock to bring us accounts and horrifying pictures. It is too much to take in.

What sustains most of us, myself included, is the support and sympathy of loved ones and friends. When that support and sympathy comes in from around the world, it is overwhelming, and humbling.

I'd like to share with you some of the emails coming from South America and elsewhere.

• Hola amigos de USA, Don't have words to say what I'm feeling... this unbeliveble madness. Hope that all of you, your families and friends are OK. Guess the only thing to say is... let's all pray for a better world, we really need it

• Dear friends in USA, We are consternated with the terrorist acts your country is suffering this last hours. It´s understandable what insane mind can do such horrible acts against innocent people. Nobody deserves a criminal act like this. We are far away from you in distance, but our hearts are very close to you specially in this hard moments for your country. If their is something we can do for you in this moments, do not hesitate in letting us know.

• Dear Friends: I have been so sad listening the bad news. I want you all know that I am praying for you all, and hopping that your government is going to do the best to keep you all safe. Please go to the safiest place you can get and just pray. I am doing the same for you all here. I don't have words to express how much I feel it and how sad I feel. I have good friends in USA, not family but good friends, and I am scared!!! Let's pray together dear friends so God helps us this stop now.

• To all of you who live in that Great nation, and to those who have families living there,my heartfelt condolences on this hour of grief. Such cowardly unprovoked acts of sheer terrorismo on innocent civilians should never again be allowed to happen. Having two sons living in Israel, I know what it means to live with danger in your heart, so I am specially sensitive to these acts of sheer cowardice.. My condolences to all of you and may the sacrifice of those who perished and suffered in this attack, which is also an attack on all mankind, help to erradicate this sickness from the face of the earth. I have spent most of it watching the news on different US channels and felt the horror of this event as if it were happening to my own country. There are no words, and the anger at such an enormous loss of lives I believe fills the whole of the civilized world right now.
