LOS HEROES DEL COMBATE DE LA CONCEPCION, Perú, durante la Guerra del Pacifico 9 al 10 de Julio de 1882. Esta escultura fundida en bronce es obra de la escultora chilena Rebeca Matte (13/03/1923) y representa a los héroes caídos rodeados por la bandera chilena, símbolo de su inmortalidad. En el monumento encuentro grabado lo siguiente: "El Oficial que tuviere orden absoluta de conservar su puesto a toda costa, lo hará . Orden General del Ejército Título Artículo 21". Están grabados los nombres del Capitán Ignacio Carrera Pinto (nieto del General José Miguel Carrera y sobrino del Presidente Aníbal Pinto), Subteniente Arturo Pérez Canto, Julio Montt, Luis Cruz y de 77 soldados: Tiburcio Chandía a Casimiro Olmos. Este monumento fue inaugurado por el Batallón Chacabuco 6º de Línea con ocasión del centenario del Combate de la Concepción.

This bronze sculpture, by Chilean sculptress Rebeca Matte, commemorates the Heroes of the Battle at Concepción, Peru during July 9 and 10, 1882. During the latter stages of the War of the Pacific, when the fighting moved ashore into Peru, and against overwhelming odds, the small Chilean forces followed orders and held on until the last man died, including Capitán Ignacio Carrera Pinto (General José Miguel Carrera's grandson an President Aníbal Pinto's nephew, whose bust is seen below), Second Lieutenant Arturo Pérez Canto, Julio Montt, Luis Cruz and 77 soldiers. This monument was dedicated on the 100th anniversary of the battle by the 6th Chacabuco Battalion.
