Virgen de la Candelaria in Iglesia de San Lorenzo en Tarapacá
Tarapacá is a small oasis within a narrow valley, the site of military efforts during the War of the Pacific and the home of the festival of La Tirana.
Built in 1717, San Lorenzo church in Tarapacá has been rebuilt after earthquakes in earlier centuries, then again in 1955 and 1987. The thick walls are white-washed adobe. The roof is straw and cane covered in mud.
The interior of the church boasts a statue of the Virgen de la Candelaria.
