Nuestro guía “turístico” es Don Roberto Rojas un antiguo minero que trabajó en estas minas durante 18 años, y ahora se desempeña como guía desde que se cerró la mina en 1997.
The tour guide is Don Roberto Rojas, who worked in the mines for 18 years before they were closed in 1997.
The only light came from miners lamps on their helmets.
El carbón se extraía en carros de una media tonelada tirada por caballos, estos era unos animales pequeños, luego el carbón se sacaba del Chiflón mediante un sistema de cables y huinches.
Coal was first extracted, a half ton at a time, by horse drawn carts, and later by a system of cables and winches.
