| First woman voted off - just as predicted | |||||||||||||||||||||
At the end of the second episode, one woman was voted off, as predicted.
With no shelter after several days in camp, manioc going bad, hungry, thirsty
and cold, the women of Jubaru were dispirited and frustrated. Neither the colorful
sunsets and sunrises nor the plentiful wildlife appeared to lift their spirits.
I noted caymans, monkey, sloths, wild pigs, spiders and ants among other animals.
Following a rainstorm that left them drenched and miserable, one of the Tribe
discovered a forbidden item of food: a Granola bar. No one claimed it, no
one admitted bringing it into camp. Suspicion landed on Janet.
An altercation between Christy and Joanna over the Tribal Idol, another
between Christy and several others over building a shelter left alliances
and animosities shifting ground.
Following the first Reward Challenge, which the women won handily, pointing
out once again that masculine strength isn't all that's necessary to survive
in the Amazon, the Awareness Challenge went to the men.
There wasn't much politicking among the women to see which would be the first
voted off, although Janet guessed it would be herself of Christy.
She was right. Whether it was being suspected of smuggling food, her earlier
illness or ??, Janet was the first woman voted off.
Will the Jubaru tribe learn to work together as a team as the men have
to provide the basics for themselves? Even though the women won bait as
their reward, and promptly began fishing, they acted as individuals
with individual concerns, rather than working together to build a shelter,
assign duties and responsibilities. Hopefully they took note of the items
in the Amazon village used in the Awareness Challenge to improve their
campsite.
Among the men, Daniel was noticeably quiet and looked ill. Was it his
recently diagnosed malaria affecting him, or was he as frustrated
as the other men at being shown up twice by the women? Alliances are
shifting among the Tambaqui tribe.
Who will be next contestant to go? Will it be a man or a woman?
Boa sorte to all the contestants!
