| Episode 5: Injury, controversy and a surprise! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Episode 5 teaser:
There's an injury in the men's tribe and controversy over an overheard discussion
in the women's tribe. Also,
Shawna continues to feel ill, dehydrated and depressed while intolerance for
her attitude gets stronger. Meanwhile, Dave and Jenna share a date. What's this
about a naked woman in the shower?
With Joanna's departure, Deena felt herself the Alpha female, the top dog, and
able to control the younger members. Jeanne was angry that Joanna had been voted
off.
Both the injury and the controversy turned out to be minor. While chopping wood with
a machete, Alex was injured when a branch snapped, flew up and cut his forehead. It
could have been worse, but once cleaned up and bandaged, Alex shrugged it off.
In Jabaru's camp, Jeanne was upset about a comment of Deena's that she applied to
herself and refused to do the chores she had been doing in order to stay in camp
and let the other women go out into the jungle.
The youngest member of each tribe was summoned to a msyterious location for wine
and laughter. Dave and Jenna found a bungalow, with wine, fruit, cheese, clean
clothes, a fresh water shower and a bed waiting for them.
The immediately sat down to eat, and after several cups of wine, Jenna began talking about her
tribe. Soon she'd babbled all their weaknesses, foibles, personality differences while
Dave volunteered very little information about his tribe.
After showering, they retired laughing to bed, chortling over their good luck to be the
youngest. In the morning, along with fresh fruit, juice and bread, they got the news:
they had to create new teams by alternate selections, male and female. Jenna made the
tactical msitake of allowing Dave to choose first, and he chose Heidi. This broke up
the alliance between Heidi, Shawna, Jenna and Deena, but Jenna countered with
choosing Alex, a strong athlete, then Deena and Shawna from the alliance. Will the three
remaining members of the alliance be strong enough to vote the men off?
The new teams are, in the order chosen:
With even numbers still, new colors, and maps, the tribes shifted members.
The men greeted their new women tribe members with hello kisses, cheers and
a toast. Roger was surprised to find out about Christy's deafness and Butch
determined that he would do what he could to help her out and make her
feel comfortable.
The new male members of Jabaru ran into camp and Shawna immediately perked up,
prompting a caustic remark from Deena who believed Shawna was faking illness.
With new tribal structures, old alliances were disrupted.
Rob didn't endear himself to female viewers with his comments that if the
women on his team volunteered to go naked, he wouldn't vote them off.
Very soon after
the shift, the Immunity Challenge pitted the tribes against each other once again.
For the first time though, they had men and women working and competing together.
Jabaru won the challenge, which was a race to see who could find five animal
names in a puzzle, row out into the water and retrieve five flags of those
animals in tribal colors, return to shore and place them upright in a box. Jabaru
too the lead, held it until the fourth flag, then raced ahead to win the challenge.
So, who would be the first member of the new Tambaqui tribe to be voted off in
Tribal Council? Would it be men against women? Or would it be as the
women did - choose straws to see who they'd vote off: Butch or Roger? Butch drew the
short straw, but in later conversation, Dave enlisted Heidi in an alliance to
vote first Jeanne, then Christy off.
The vote was Jeanne 4, Butch 2. Jeanne was upset the Heidi voted against her, and said
she wasn't a liar and a cheat, but was a winner in the "game of life." Will the younger
tribal members vote off the older ones, or will they pick off the weakest members? Or
do the elders have a plan of their own? Who's next?
Episode 6 teaser:
Shawna's miraculous recovery when Alex, Rob and Matt joined her tribe continues
as she and Alex develop a closer relationship. Romance in the Amazon? Will they
vote each other off? But Matt makes a play for her, too? How does this influence
strategy and alliances?
Keep track of the wins and losses:
