Art and Culture:
On Beagle Channel, surrounded by water, sky and mountains, Ushuaia calls itself the
Fin del Mundo, End of
the World. As the closest city to Antarctica, the city is a hub for Antartic touring and
navigating the Strait of Magellan. Cruise ships dock here for a quick onshore visit.
Once an Incan village perched high on the slopes of a steep mountain, Iruya, in Salta
province of northwestern Argentina, clings to its past traditions even as it slowly
creeps into the present. For those wanting a step back in time, wildly colorful scenery
and a relaxing change from city life, Iruya is the place to go.
The Tigre delta, named for the fierce jaguar, is a 14,000 square kilometer area where
thousands of islands and inlets, water channels, rivers and backwaters form a
sub-tropical wonderland about twenty miles northeast of Buenos Aires. It's an
historical monument and a favorite spot for day trips, weekend getaways and
cruises around the delta waterways.
Argentina's Mundo Marino, or Sea World, is a wildly popular all-season attraction on
the Atlantic coast where marine wildlife, particularly Orcas, dolphins, sea lions
and penguins delight the visitors while behind the scenes rescue and research
operations attract scientists and professionals.
In Mendoza, the teams try their hands at a Gaucho Challenge, board a plane for Buenos
Aires, then head for the scenic and confusing Parana river delta to search for clues
on a shipwreck on a delta island. Next, a race to an upscale polo ranch to see who's
first, who is last - and eliminated. The teams then leave South America for South
Africa.
And the race continues! Up and over the Andes, rafting down a swift river, pedalling
a rough track to a gargantuan eating challenge to an estancia in Mendoza, Argentina.

San Carlos de Bariloche, commonly known as Bariloche, is a prime, all-season
