"Inti Wara Yassi" is a volunteer based organization loacted in Boliva. In 1996, the organization founded a wildlife refuge in "Parque Machia", Villa Tunari. The refuge houses over 200 monkeys, dozens of birds, tortoises, coatis and wild cats. All were illegally poached and kept in private homes, hotels and circuses.

A small portion of the Pantanal extends into southeastern Bolivia.

"In 1996 the Inti Wara Yassi community established a refuge for wild animals in the Bolivian amazon basin. From circuses, animal dealers or homes animals are brought to the refuge for rehabilitation and liberation back into the wild."
