Also known as the Mercado de las Brujas, the Witches Market is the most unusual in La Paz. Located on Calle Linares between Sagarnaga and Santa Cruz, this market is a must see for visitors to the city. Vendors sell herbs and magic charms for any occasion, as well as those for love, money or health. This street is also the best place to pick up a charango or other Bolivian musical instrument.

Also available here and in many other markets, are the small figurines of the household god, Ekeko, who brings prosperity. You can tell him by the sacks of goods he carries, from money to household goods. Celebrated during the Alasitas feria at the end of January, Ekeko is a red cheeked grinning figure. If you buy a toy representation of whatever you want during Alasita, such as a house, a vehicle, farm animals, or even an airplane, Ekeko will get you one during the year.
