Option 1: Rio Grande to Machuca

This is a six hour trek, climbing up the altiplano from 2,700 m (8,860 ft) to an altitude of 3,400 m (11,800 ft) at the isolated village of Machuca, a regular stopover for ancient llama caravans traveling the Inca Trail. Along the way you'll see examples of tradtitional terrace agriculture, impressive scenery and wildlife.

Option 2: San Pedro to Tatio Geyser, Caspana and Calama

With a pre-dawn departure, you'll have breakfast at the geysers to see the geothermal field with boiling mud and columns of steam. You'll continue on to the villages of Caspana, Chiu-Chiu, the Pukara de Lasana, Loa River petroghyphs and the Inca Coya Lake before arrival in Calama.
