Chilean naval hero, Agustín Arturo Prat Chacón was killed in the decisive naval Battle of Iquique after jumping on board of the Peruvian armored monitor Huáscar after his ship, the Esmeralda, was rammed by the Peruvian monitor during the War of the Pacific, celebrated by shiles as the Glorias Navales.
Prat is honored throughout the nation with city streets, plazas and buildings named for him.
