From Calama, the teams take taxis 15 km to the the open pit mine at Chuquicamata, a huge mine that over the years has grown so big that it has encroached on what used to be residential areas, commercial section and when built, a state of the art hospital.

There is still plenty left of Chuqui, as the locals call it, and the teams arrive at the visitors point to suit up in safety gear. Wearing helmets, goggles, earplugs and orange vests, they proceed into the mine.
