Update August 28, 2005

"The mother of a missing Alabama teenager said Saturday she believes "we are going to get answers" after two brothers previously detained in her daughter's disappearance were taken back into custody."

Suriname has been somewhat in the news recently as the home of two brothers connected with the investigation into the case. "Satish, 18, and Deepak Kalpoe, 21, were arrested along with a third person... after being released from jail in July after a judge ruled there was not enough evidence to hold them in the disappearance of the 18-year-old American who disappeared on the final night of a high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island."

The arrest follows the visit of Natalee's mother, Beth Twitty, with the Prime Minister of Aruba, Nelson Oduber, who admitted that mistakes Said Made in Aruba Investigation, but asked Natalee's mother to tone down her remarks criticizing various aspects of the investigation by Aruban authorities.

In other news of the investigation, following a media visit to the prison where Joran van der Sloot is being held during the investigative process, an Aruban judge on Wednesday ordered a U.S. television network not to broadcast footage from a tour of an Aruban jail that shows the suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. The judge issued the order at the request of an attorney for the suspect, Joran van der Sloot and the warder of the prison who allowed and accompanied the prison tour, was released from duty. A judge is scheduled to hold a hearing in September to determine if there is enough evidence to continue holding van der Sloot, who has not been charged in the case.

Update: August 17, 2005

Natalee is still missing.

Eighty plus days after her disappearance, and among the alledgedly changing stories from Joran Van Der Sloot, a lack of forensic evidence, confrontations between her mother, Beth Twitty, and one of the Kalpe brothers, suits and countersuits, one search and rescue team leaving the island and another coming with search dogs and other high tech equipment, Dutch interrogators, daily reviews in the media, a portion of a skeletonized forearm washing ashore in neighboring Venezuela, huge frustrations and allegations of ineptitude, there still is the prime question:

  1. Where is Natalee? And the corollary questions:
    1. Who is responsible for her disappearance now considered a homicide?
    2. If Joran Van Der Sloot is responsible, will he ever admit it?
    3. If the judge orders his release in early September for insufficient cause, will he be re-charged?
    4. What role, if any, did Joran Van Der Sloot's father have in her disappearance?
    5. What role did the two Kalpoe brothers have in her disappearance?
    6. Will the brothers be re-charged?

There are so many rumors and speculations that it is hard to keep track of them all.
