Buñuelos de viento

Something like a doughnut, these South American airy puffs are easy to make and impossible to resist.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 liter water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 50 grams shortning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs, baten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • oil for frying
  • Spanish:
  • ¼ litro de agua
  • 1 taza de harina
  • 50 gramos de manteca
  • ½ cucharadita de sal
  • 4 huevos
  • 1 cucharadita de vainilla
  • aceite para freír

Preparation:

English:- Boil the water and shortening, then remove from heat. Add the flour all at once, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon. Return to the heat, stirring continuously again until the flour comes away from the sides of the pot and forms a ball.

Remove from the fire and add the vanilla, mix in, then add the beaten eggs. Mix thoroughly into the dough.

Drop by spoonsful into hot oil and fry until puffy. Drain immediately and dust with powedered sugar or honey.

Spanish: - Llevar a hervir el agua junto con la manteca. Cuando rompe el hervor retirar del fuego y agregar de golpe la harina, revolviendo siempre con cuchara de madera. Llevar nuevamente al fuego durante unos minutos, revolviendo continuamente hasta que la pasta se desprenda de la olla y forme una bola.

Retirar del fuego y agregar la vainilla, dejar templar la mezcla y agregar los huevos.

Batir bien y freír la mezcla por cucharadas en aceite caliente.

Escurrirlos en papel absorbente y servirlos chorreteados de miel o espolvoreados con azúcar impalpable.
