The first residential neighborhood of Guayaquil is located on Santa Ana hill on the northern edge of the city.
Many of the original wooden houses burned in the great fire of 1896. The neighborhood was rebuilt in a neo-classical style and is a scenic area to stroll through cobble stoned streets and visit art galleries and shops.
A climb to the top of the hill and the Plaza Colon rewards visitor with great views of the city.
