Mendoza is the capital of Mendoza province, part of the Cuyo region of western Argentina. Known for the wineries, the Andes, including Cerro Aconcagua, this area is a favorite with business and leisure travelers who come for the wine and the recreational activities. After a mandatory rest period in Santiago, the remaining nine teams, at staggered times, collected their next clue directing them to the underground garage at Paseo Bulnes in the city to collect their vehicles for a drive through the Andes to Punta Viejo, in Argentina and then on to Mendoza.
