It's an historical monument and a favorite spot for day trips, weekend getaways and cruises around the delta waterways.

The Paraná River delta is a 14,000 square kilometer area where thousands of islands and inlets, water channels, rivers and backwaters form a sub-tropical wonderland about twenty miles northeast of Buenos Aires. An island in the delta, closer to the Uruguayan side of the river, was once a military outpost, a penal colony and is now a National Historical Monumuent and Flora and Fauna Reserve and a popular attraction for a day outing or a weekend getaway in the delta.
