Sacsayhuaman Rock Wall
The Spaniards left behind the largest of the rock, one of which weighs more than 900 tons. What a feat of engineering to get them to the site in the first place!
The boulders were quarried in Sisicancha, three km away. The route between the quarry and the fortress has rocks that were left along the way.
There is some theory that the base, or foundation of the battlements, existed before the Incas, who had a relatively short timespan as rulers and could not have created such a huge undertaking during that time. The thought is that they adopted Cuzco as their capital beacuse the fortress was already there.
