El Bolson Photographic Tour

Road to El Bolson, Rio Negro

Road to El Bolson, Rio Negro Province, Argentina

Robert Ingledew

About 75 miles, or 130 km, south of Bariloche, the El Bolsón area is a welcome retreat for those finding Bariloche getting too commercial and crowded for their tastes.

The road, RN 258, winds through beautiful scenery of hills and valleys of the rìo Quemquemtreu for the pleasant two hour trip. Araucaria forests grace the hillsides and the rivers and streams beckon fishermen and women who come for the trout.

The route passes by lakes Gutierrez, Mascardi, Guillelmo, through the Cañadón de la Mosca toward the Manso river, and crosses Foyel river.

If you're not driving yourself, the best way to get to El Bolsón is by bus. Andesmar has the most connections to other Argentine locations.

You can fly in, of course, to Bariloche and then proceed by road.
