The Cabildo, or Town Council Hall, dating from the 18th century, houses the Museo Histórico del Norte which displays religious and modern art, historical furnishings and vehicles, plus historic coins and paper money.
General Manuel Belgrano, who created the Aregentine flag, was here during his victory of the Battle of Salta against the Spanish forces in 1813.
