Night 14 at Casaya camp finds Shane Powers rehashing the events leading up to voting off Bobby Mason at Tribal Council. He thinks they made the wrong decision and keeps talking about it, blaming Danielle DiLorenzo and Courtney Marit for engineering the switch and re-switch for personal motives until Danielle loses patience with him and tells him to be quiet.
Shane wants to be released from his promise to maintain the alliance with the two women and with Aras Baskauskas that he’d sworn to on the life of his son. He continues this thread the next morning while Cirie Fields chuckles privately. Courtney and Danielle are perfectly happy to release him and vote him out.
Also on Day 15, at the La Mina camp, Dan Barry enjoys the quiet dawn. ] Terry Deitz directs the heating up of the beans for breakfast while Sally Schumann observes the “Boys Club” catching minnows and eating them live.
Dan and Nick Stanbury go out on the raft and in an effort to cement the bond and build trust, Dan tells Nick that he is an astronaut, has been on three Space flights, and had four space walks. Impressed, once they are ashore again, Nick tells Austin Carty who is also impressed as well.
Back at the Casaya camp, Shane continues his efforts to be released from his promise. Danielle wonders why she persuaded him to stay when he first wanted to go home in Episode 2. Keeping out of the discussion, Bruce Kanegai tends his Zen garden and eats his rice. Aras is out of patience with Shane as well.
Tree Mail takes them to a combined Reward and Immunity Challenge. The Immunity portion involves assembling huge puzzle pieces into a revolving format, and the Reward is a boat trip to a Panamaian village where they’ll take toys to the children and enjoy a meal. The losing tribe will have someone sent to Exile Island, as usual, but that person will be protected from the Tribal Council that night.
Courtney sits out for the Casaya tribe. Taking the lead and holding it, Terry leads Austin and Nick in retrieving the heavy puzzle pieces for Dan and Sally to assemble. Bruce and Cirie assemble the pieces Shane, Aras and Danielle, who totters under the heavy piece, bring to them. La Mina’s time lead disappears as Dan and Sally cannot assemble the puzzle while Bruce and Cirie plunge ahead. Casaya wins both the Reward and Immunity. After conferring, they send Sally to Exile Island.
A boat immediately takes the Casaya tribe to the village where they are welcomed by children, who enjoy the toys and take them to the center of the village where dish after dish of Panamanian dishes await them. They gorge themselves on rice, soup, chicken, cheese, something cooked in leaves, beer, wine and soft drinks. Cirie is wistful, missing her children, while Shane barters for a cigarette and smoke it blissfully. With this, Shane apologizes to Danielle and enjoys a “great day.” Music and dancing complete the celebration.
On Exile Island, Sally is content to be away from the “Boys Club” with some girl time. She considers this a vacation and sets out to look for the Hidden Idol. The Idols look very much like shrunken heads. See page 2 for details about shrunken heads.
The “Boys Club” faces a difficult decision. With Sally safe on Exile Island, they have to vote one of themselves off, an excellent strategic move on the Casaya tribe’s part. Dan hopes for a two versus two vote, with him and Terry siding against Nick and Austin. However, Terry has to choose between keeping his promise to Dan or keeping the team strong. With the merger on the horizon, he wants to keep their tribe as strong as possible. He talks to Dan who acknowledges and takes responsibility for his failure at the challenge. At Tribal Council, Dan votes against Austin, but the three others vote him out. Dan is the sixth castaway voted out.
