Outwit, Outplay, Outlast - Survivor 11: Guatemala

CBS

Episode 13 ended with the "car curse" claiming another victim, when Cindy won the car in the Reward Challenge, ignored the fact that none of the car winners in the previous ten seasons had ever gone on to win the one million dollar prize, and chose to keep the car, instead of giving it up and giving each of the four other Survivors and indentical SUV. Her tribemates, except for Stepheniewho shared the second part of the reward, an overnight stay and barbecue at an archeologist's camp, were disappointed and angry with Cindy.

No surprise that they turned on her, and voted Cindy out at Tribal Council. Now, in the remaining three days before the final vote for the Sole Survivor, the Final Four of Steph and Rafe, who are leading the Who will be Sole Survivor? poll, Lydia and Danni have to face three challenges and two Tribal Councils to determine which are the Final Two, and then, at last, who wins the Jury vote to become the eleventh Sole Survivor.

Let's see what happens in the final days of Survivor 11!

Episode 14 begins on Day 37 at dawn, with the Final Four sharing their feelings, pleased to be where they are. Lydia thinks it's her desitny to be there. Rafe offers congratulations all around and wished them all a "happy breakfast."

Lydia gets the Tree Mail and based on the messsage, guesses that its a celebration with Mayans coming for some sort of ritual. She's right. A Mayan family of two women and three men arrive in a cloud of incense, carrying bundles and baskets of sugar, candles, herbs and a live chicken. With chants in the Maya language, the group beheads the chicken and throws it in the fire. Rafe is fascinated by the ritual and is appreciative of the meaning, but Step is appalled at the rite and asks Lydia, who is thrilled to feel kinship with Hispanic history, to find out if they can eat the chicken. The answer is a resounding "No." The chicken is an offering to the gods. The family departs with expressions of gratitude and waves from the Final Four.

The first of three Immunity Challenges is a complex maze on several levels which involves finding eight pieces and assembling them in the figure of a jaguar, a monkey or a crocodile after navigating the maze, running across a pontoon bridge, climbing up to a platform to deposit the pieces, then descending to the maze again via a rope bridge. It's a tough challenge, and all four are winded after finding just the first three pieces. Steph takes an early lead, and Lydia does very well until she gets lost and loses time. Rafe and Steph get to the end together, and Rafe is able to finish his puzzle first, just as Lydia climbs to the platform with her last piece. Rafe wins Immunity for the fourth time!

Rafe calls it an incredible women. The three women are vulnerable. One of them is going to be voted out at Tribal Council that night. Rafe and Steph talk, reminding each other that they've never lied to each other, and they'll have to fight hard to get to the Final Two.

Who should they vote out? Between Lydia, who is no threat in the athletic challenges, and Danni, who is a fierce competitor, Rafe recalls he's made a promise to Danni who is uneasy despite that promise.

The four return to camp, where the chicken sacrificed earlier is still in the fire. Should they eat it? Lydia checks on it and finds the chicken perfectly cooked. She, Steph and Danni decide to eat the chicken, since the game is survival, but Rafe declines. He feels he'd lose all he learned from the Mayan ritual if he eats the chicken, but that doesn't stop the women from devouring the chicken.

A huge storm rolls in. Thunder, lightning and a hard rain floods the camp area. The women say a prayer of repentance, but the rain doesn't let up.

At Tribal Council, Jeff asks about the prayer blessing ceremony and Lydia sheepishly confesses that they ate the chicken. Further, Lydia says she is no threat to anyone and wants to stay in the game so the others have a better chance at the Final Two. Danni disagrees, saying that Lydia is a threat since everyone loves her. Steph says both women are threats and her vote is going to be a hard decision. However, it's not that hard a decision as Lydia is voted out 3-1. She's the 15th player voted out and she leaves, saying she's proud of herself, the game was an incredible experience that she wouldn't have missed for the world. In the family moment, her son sends love and can't wait for her to get back.

Day 38 begins with dawn and everything in camp is wet. The fire is out and needs restarting with the flint. The howler monkeys are louder than usual and the corn is wet, with maggots crawling through it.

Before the last Immunity Challenge, the Final Four are sent to pay tribute to the fifteen players who have been voted out. They climb to the top of the ruins, find images of each player and then sacrifice the image to a fire. Each of the fifteen has a few words about their experience.
