Episode 2 had the men of Nakúm tribe rallying to overcome ill-health to rise to the challenge, and won both the Reward and Immunity Challenges, sending a shocked Yaxha tribe to their First Tribal council. There they blindsided Morgan , voting her out for being lazy and weak.
A hungry Yaxha tribe now has to find food to fuel themselves for the next challenge. Can they do it?
Let's see how Episode 3 unfolds!
Episode 3 begins with an aerial view of the rain forest, where mist and wildlife color the environment. In Yaxhá camp, Lydia is already up and gathering wood while others sleep. She says that she would have chosen Brianna to be voted out because they need a strong tribe. And, she adds, Brianna is not her "cup of tea." Brian joins her, chortling that they won't have another Tribal Council.
In Nakúm camp, the howler monkey's dawn songs are driving Judd "out of his mind." Cindy , with her zoo experience, expains how the monkeys make all that noise, but Judd isn't impressed, calling Cindy "Dr. Doolittle."
The Reward Challenge brings both teams together to build an archeologist's tent after they retrieve all the necessary items--blindfolded. One contestant will act as "caller" and direct the others to pick up nine bundles of items. The first team to get all the items can take off the blindfolds and begin creating an open-sided tent.
Brooke calls for Nakúm camp, but has trouble giving directions. People bump into each other, get whacked with poles, get turned around and lose time. Gary calling for Yaxhá gives better directions and Yaxhá gets a good lead and keeps it. However, once the Nakúm tribe gets their items, they make up the lost time and work well together where Yaxhá seems to get confused and lose their momemtum. Even though both teams have trouble figuring out the ropes, Nakúm camp gets it together and finishes moments before Yaxhá. They win the reward of blankets, tarp, pillows and lantern, all comfort items.
Lamenting over their close loss after such an easy challenge, Yaxhá returns to camp. They pump up each other's spirts, saying they have to pull out of the slump. Amy says she knows what she has to do, and she'll never give up. Lydia is optimistic and as the women wash clothes, they seem to form a bond. Except for Brianna that is, who has nothing good to say about Lydia.
In their camp in the ruins, the Nakúm tribe pats themselves on the back, congratulating themselves for another win, four out of five, and Bobby-Jon says it's good to win. The tribe stretches out on their new blankets, saying they will build a new shelter once the heat fades. After a nap, they head to the water to cool off. The heat is demoralizing and saps their energy, but they can't get in the water. Cindy warns the group about crocodiles and their habits, and the women sit on the dock and dump buckets of wwater over themselves. Several men disregard Cindy's warning and take the canoe out to deeper water and two jump into the water. Brandon laughs and says, "the brave may not live long, but the cautious don't live at all." The scene ends with croc eyes just visible on the surface of the water.
Later on, the Nakúm men can't seem to decide how to erect the tarp, and when Margaret offers some pointed suggestions, Bobby-Jon and .Judd get upset. Judd fetches poles for the tent, grumping that no one tells him what to do except his boss and his wife.
Day 8 brings Tree Mail and a basket of body paint, brushes, feathers, and an invitation to participate in a Mayan game in which the losers were sacrificed, as today's losing tribe will vote out another member of their tribe.
Nakúm tribe members are excited, looking forward to winning another challenge and charge their spirits with a pre-game cheer. Yaxhá does the same and realize how important this game is. Lydia says she wants to be a star and all acknowledge that they need to keep their numbers up.
