With four men recuperating, it was going to be tough for the Nakum tribe, but the men put effort into the race. Yaxha was first to get the torch, but the boats were tied at the beach. Nakum got their rope hooked first to the boat, and when Stephanie got her foot caught under a log, they pulled ahead in the race. However, Yaxha caught up, then led. Danni also got her foot caught in a log, slowing down her tribe.
Yaxha pulled ahead and kept the lead, lighting their torch and winning the first Immunity Challenge. They were ecstatic, with Stephanie thrilled not to go to Tribal Council.
The Nakum tribe was clearly dispirited, but Jim was in trouble. Hed snapped his left bicep when he pulled the boat and was in much pain. Margaret did what she could for him, but wondered who should be the first to be voted out. Who could help the tribe more by staying? The other women also discussed the likely candidate for the first eviction. Brandon speculated about sending one of the "broken-down guys" home.
Tribal Council was held that night in the ruin called the North Acropolis, a site once used by the Mayan priests as a sacrificial area, a fitting spot for the Tribal council. The tribe gathered around the fire pit as Jeff inquired after Jims injury, his arm now in a makeshift sling. Danni mentioned that it was not surprising that the men were the ones suffering from dehydration, as they had carried the heavy loads through the jungle, their 24 hour marathon.
It was not a surprise to Jim that he was the first one voted out of Survivor 11. He left, commenting he had no regrets, wishing the others good luck and hoping that no one else gets hurt. Only 20% of the readers who participated in the Introductory Poll: Who will be the first ones voted off? thought Jim would be the first one to be voted out.
In the next episode (cant wait!), the Yaxha tribe needs food. Will they be forced to eat ants? Blake is still sick and there is an arduous challenge ahead. What will happen next? From CBS:
