Seen from the air, the ground around the falls seems brown and barren, but it is instead a sub-tropical area. Summers are hot, intensely, so and the heaviest tourist season, but the best time to see the falls is in the spring and fall. The water level drops during the winter months.
The falls are best seen in the morning for taking pictures. It is possible to see both the Argentine and the Brazilian sides in one day, but two or more are best. There are hotel accommodations on both sides of the falls.
