The Declaration of Independence from Spain, Acta de la Declaración de la Independencia Argentina, was formulated and signed in this colonial house in Tucuman, one of Argentina's oldest cities, on July 9, 1816. Today the home is revered as an historical site, and preserved as a museum and focal point for July 9, or 9 de Julio, celebrations throughout the country.
