Pisac Ruins

Once the stronghold controlling the Urubamba valley route to Paucartambo, on the border of the eastern jungles, the fortress of Pisac is set high above the river. Around it are the fields on the valley floor, terraces and water ducts and steps leading to the Temple of the Sun at the upper level. Above the temple, there are still more ruins, mostly unexcavated, and burial sites.
