The teams spread out over two flights from Puerto Montt. Those arriving on the earlier plane have a distinct advantage as they take a taxi through Punta Arenas to find the wreck of a ship called Lord Lonsdale, known to the locals as Barco Viejo. See the photo of Shipwreck (Lord Lonsdale), Punta Arenas, Chile which was wrecked in 1942.

At the boat site, the teams get their choice of Detour:

  1. Navigate: Find their way to the main plaza where a uniformed sailor will give them a compass to make their way to the Nautilus building, where they will get the next clue.
  2. Sign: Using the given suppllies, they must construct a signpost with all the ports of call, in the correct order from Seville, Spain on Ferdinand Magellan's round the world epic voyage.
