Cumaná, Venezuela

Roraima tepui, in Parque Nacional Canaima, Venezuela's second largest national park along the borders with Guyana and Brazil. The tepui was for many years too isolated for more than the devout adventurer. In recent years, climbers and trekkers, make the six day, five night round trip trek to the summit of this 9,219-foot sandstone mesa.

Ciudad Bolivar, on the Orinoco river, is a fast growing city of the gran sabana and Orinoco plains. Founded in 1764, at the narrowest point of the Orinoco, it was originally a river town called Angosturas, then gained prominence during the time of Simon Bolivar and is now a commercial center for Guyanas state and the jumping off point for Angel Falls and Canaima National Park.

The Orinoco river system is one of the largest in South America, originating along the southern borders of Venezuela and Brazil, in the state of Amazonas. The exact length of the river is still undetermined, with estimates between 1,500 to 1,700 mi (2,410–2,735 km) long, making it among the world's largest river systems.

Over 1330 miles long, Venezuela's river runs the length of the country, and is home to most of the indigenous population as well as tourism and the country's largest growing economic sector.
